Hanging a shingle

Professionally I spent the last year working for a small company as an Organizer. I saw the range of clients - from the very sweet, OCD, possibly kleptomaniac, hoarder client to the single mom with two kids and not enough time to make sense of her growing kids' closets. And let me tell you, no matter the client, or the closet, it was pure joy helping people make sense of their stuff. Organizing is my passion!

We like many first time homeowners bought a "house with potential" in the nicest neighborhood. It was all we could afford and it had zero insulation, outdated bathrooms and a kitchen with a pint sized refrigerator. Slowly as we lived there and saved up money we were able to tackle improvement projects bit by bit. Over time when many folks would've traded up for the bigger house with the bigger yard further out of the city, we chose to stay put.  I loved solving the problems that came with a small, outdated bungalow.  Here are a few searches in my google history:  oil to gas conversions, repointing fieldstone foundations, overlay vs inset cabinets, Elfa closets, built in ideas, basement renovations, Hafele door hinges.  As a result I think of our home as a study in "the principles of living with less" and also "finding space where you previously thought there was none".

Now I have found myself in a place where I'd like to share my ideas about organizing and how we think about our stuff and the space it inhabits.
